Picking a poster is aways a bit of a bitch

So, our Art Director Blaire, mocked up a bunch of posters for the showcase next week, and I have no idea which one to use, so I’m opening up a poll to you people, so we can have a democratic decision, but first a word on the bands.

On the 3rd we’ll have a Quick’s Next Big Thing Iris Leu performing a full band set, which has me more then a little excited. I received a copy of of Ms. Leu’s album, hushaboo, a few weeks ago, and once I was able to give it the listen it deserved, I came to the decision that this was something i could get behind. Let’s break it down, it’s a girl at a piano, opening herself up and pouring out music filled with emotion. Yes, it’s slightly unbelievable that such a voice comes from her, and yes the backing instruments allow the songs a level of gravitas that would be lost in solo set, but songs like “Twentyone” sum up the album best. Haunting music, not ment to be enjoyed alone.

Along with Ms. Leu the line up for the 3rd features Matthew Gray’s side project (the one all of us are refusing to type out) a project I’ve been legitimately excited about for some time, in fact I’ve had his track “My Little Map of the World” on repeat as of late. It’s a fun little trip into the mind of a very talented individual, and I can’t wait to hear the rest of the album.

We’ll also have Jason Reimer of History At Our Disposal playing a solo set, which I have no idea what to expect from. St. Philistine is going to keep getting press here until the rest of you agree with me and say that, their music is perfectly poppy in every way, I swear I’m on a one man mission to get these guys acclaimed.

As for the the 4th, we’re going to try and blow you away with a lineup that features Western Giants (owners of maybe the best local release I’ve heard so far this year), Touch Tongues (still have no idea why they’re no longer Street Hassle), Manned Missiles (playing a new set of songs, that I recently had a chance to get a sneak peak of, and they’re great) and DISCO: hate (Best name ever?). It’ll be a great time, and a good way to celebrate the day, and we hope to see you all there, now for a WG track, and the posters.
