Ah, the birth of a nation, something we commemorate with cookouts, booze, baseball, blowing shit up, and in my case arguing. You see we won, in November, and it was marked by dancing in the streets, and joy, and then in late January we all paused for a day to watch as a man took over as our leader. Fine, and dandy right? Waves of joy washing over us, and the like, of course now we’re having to hear the panicked cries of  the right are clouding our good times.  Here’s a message for you guys…Go fuck yourselves, we won, and we’re gonna be in charge for the next few years.

Monday

I don’t care if it is “Step dad” rock, Wilco constantly brings something new and interesting to the table with each album, so a trip down to Good Records for the listening party tonight wouldn’t be a bad idea, and according to the GR Twitter you get a free bandanna.

Tuesday

I have no interest in Patrick Wolf, and the others on the bill over at the Granada.

Wednesday

Public Enemies

Thursday

Saturday night i went to the fucking Prophet Bar, because Manned Missiles were playing with Small Time Ruffians, and I honestly love the guys from Manned Missiles, and before i eve left for the show I had a feeling of dread. I’m not one to disparage bands, or venues, but that place is one of my least favorite locals to visit, so with some trepidation i took off for the show. Once I walked in and received my wristband I noticed it touted a Mega Church, and I remembered that the bar was run with Christianity in mind, after paying way too much for cheap beer, and suffering through two terrible bands I finally got a bit of a reprise when MM made their way to the stage to play to a crowd of 40, or so people who couldn’t be bothered to leave their conversation long enough to appreciate the quality music on stage despite the pleas of the band that they open up a bit. I’d say that was the worst of it, but after seeing a group of 15 year olds smoking a joint in the bathroom, I attempted to catch the Small Time ruffians set, only to see it cut short by the bar, because in their words “They wanted to call it a night”. Moral of the story is fuck the Prophet Bar, catch these bands at Andy’s in Denton with opener The River Mouth, you’ll get a quality show without the oppressive christian moralizing.

Friday & Saturday

Yeah we have a little two day showcase going on at the Cavern, and will be mentioning this none stop. I should say though, if you’re stuck in Denton on Saturday night, check out Yeah Def’s set over at Indentondance, his MJ tribute has been playing none stop around these parts since he posted it on Friday.

Yeah Def- Mike Jack We <3 You

Sunday

Be hung over.
