Jail

Milwaukee’s Jail hits the Double Wide tomorrow in support of their latest There’s No Sky (Oh MyMy) the buzzy four piece was kind enough to let us take a look at the album in anticipation for the show.

The albums all rock’n'roll, with its stronger points living  in its opening, where the eponymous opening track, which plays like a beer soaked mad ramble through a house party, all excitement, and little regret, leads to “Beggar Sincere” a rollicking jam that details a lovers quarrel gone awry. While, somewhere in the middle instrumental heavy “Pardano” comes in to toss a little space, organ, and anger at you, before flowing into the bratty “We’ve Won”. Coming in at just under 34  minutes There’s No Sky is filled with 12 fiery tracks that for the most part check in under 3 minutes with an attacking style of rock that hearkens back to Come On Pilgrim era Pixies, and would serve as a perfect companion to the first Tapes’n'Tapes record.

Jail- There’s No Sky (Oh My My)

Jail- Pardano

Verdict: There seems to be a limited number of vinyl pressings of this album, and I plan on getting one, take that as a ringing endorsement.

Side note: On the band’s Myspace they list a Chevy Chase movie after each of their names, this made me laugh.

Second Side note: Thanks to the Double Wide we’re giving away a set of tickets to tomorrow’s show, you just have to email us at giveaways@daybowbow.net, and we will randomly select one winner from the list of emails we get. You want to catch this show, Bad Sports is headlining, and the excellent Old Snack is opening.

Third Side note: I wish Parata was on this bill.
