(Note: Due to the sheer number of submissions we receive there is no way we can give each and every album the attention (and word count) they deserve, but we can devote time to at least one song from each. So we started this feature to give worthy bands, and their music a spot to shine. We hope this helps you discover new and exciting acts, and as always if you enjoy the music please make an attempt to support the artist by either attending a show, or buying a record.)
Second straight song from 200o that we’ve posted on here, though this one for a completely different reason. Canadian Indie supergroup The New Pornographers have been praised throughout the decade for the uniqueness of their releases, and for introducing a new set of fans to both their music, and the individual work of each of the band members. Really who could have an issue with that?
The New Pornographers- Letter From An Occupant
Verdict: All charging guitars, indie oooo’s, and shared chorus, this little pop ditty is a fun reprieve from the doldrums of most days, and for that I’m thankful when it pops up on shuffle.
(Neko Case of The New Pornographers appears tonight at the Granada Theater, hopefully tickets are still available?)
